Greenwich University and AMEC Academics and Educators

Dr Keren Darmon, Teaching Fellow in Public Relations and Communications, University of Greenwich speaks about the important relationship Greenwich University has with AMEC and how the principles and opportunities to network have been helpful.

“As we approach Measurement Month, which takes place in November (#AMECMM), I am again reflecting on the importance not only of measurement and evaluation (M&E) but also of networking.

Soon after I began teaching at the University of Greenwich in academic year 2019-20, I reached out to AMEC’s Academics’ and Educators’ Special Interest Group, to see if they could connect us with a professional to speak to my MA students about Measurement and Evaluation as part of the PR Planning course they were taking with me. Group leader Steph Bridgeman responded enthusiastically and generously agreed to visit us. These were Covid times, so she came to us remotely. And provided a fantastic session that really enhanced students’ understanding and appreciation of not only the importance of M&E but also the vast array of tools and methods available to carry them out effectively as well as the career opportunities they provide. And it is with great pleasure that I look forward to welcoming AMEC back to my classroom again this academic year.

There are multiple benefits to students, academics, educators, and M&E professionals in being part of AMEC and its Special Interest Groups.

For students:

·       Access to guest lecturers and a network of professionals

·       New perspectives on possible careers

·       Educational resources, such as the foundational course in measurement and evaluation

For academics and educators:

·       Access to a network of likeminded colleagues
