AMEC from time to time will host member only Chatham House Rules Townhall discussions. This is strictly an AMEC Members-Only closed forum unless advertised otherwise and we require all attendees to agree to the rules as follows: “When a meeting or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.” The AMEC Members Only “Chatham House Rules” Closed Forum Townhall is a unique platform designed to foster open and honest discussions among its members. Under the Chatham House Rule, participants are encouraged to speak freely, as they can share information from the meeting without attributing it to any individual speaker. This approach promotes candid dialogue and the exchange of innovative ideas while maintaining confidentiality and trust among members. The townhall provides an opportunity for members to address pressing issues, share insights, and collaborate on finding solutions in a supportive and secure environment. By creating a space where members can express their thoughts without reservation, the forum aims to drive meaningful progress and strengthen the community’s collective efforts. The attendance list must also remain anonymous, except to those who are attending and if any attendees were to break the rule, they would face appropriate sanction, which is usually in the form of future exclusion from all institute activities. By providing anonymity to speakers, the Chatham House Rule encourages openness, as it allows people to voice their own honest opinions, and express views that may not be those of their own organisations. The rule aims to strengthen business relationships by providing a ‘safe’ space in which people don’t have to worry about their reputation or the risk of being publicly quoted in the future. In addition AMEC will not allow any AI note takers into meetings or webinars.
