Thomas has a background in social sciences. Since 2000 he has lived and worked in London, doing PR measurement & evaluation in various roles (MD at Report International from 2007 to 2012; Analytics Group Director at WCG 2012-2014; Head of Media Intelligence at Lexis Nexis BIS 2015 – 2017). Since 2018 he is self-employed, teaching at various universities; he is also an Analytics Partner at Dot I/O Health, and since 2021 Course Leader at PR Academy for the AMEC International Certificate in Measurement & Evaluation).

Thomas is a part-time PhD researcher in political communication at Bournemouth University), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar, a member of AMEC and a member of the Institute for PR Measurement Commission. He is also the co-host of the SmallDataForum podcast (since 2016).
