The list is of some of the best and brightest young talent in the industry and inspired us to host a rising star panel. The goal of the panel was to inform students about the career possibilities in measurement and evaluation and provide insight for employers about what young professionals may be looking for from their employers. The panel hosted by Lauren Hasse (Ketchum Analytics) included panelists Majed Alnahwi (FH TRUE Global Intelligence), Caitlin Perry (Vuelio), Catherine Aumiller (Edelman) and Ariana Catalano (Methods + Mastery). Some key insights coming out of the panel include: The path to a career in measurement and evaluation isn’t linear. The industry is filled with professionals of all different backgrounds, from communications to math. The commonality is a desire to ask questions and look for answers. One of the best things an employer can do for a young professional is provide them with patient mentors. Mentors go a long way in helping young employees adapt to the professional world and learn new skillsets. A skill those looking to enter the measurement and evaluation industry should try to hone is concise writing. The ability to convey research findings in a short and easy to read manner is one of the most important skillsets to ensure the research we do reaches its full potential. You should never stop trying to learn, no matter how long you’ve been in the industry. Learning new skills is important throughout your career as new technologies and data types become available. Some great sources for continued learning include YouTube, LinkedIn Learning as well as AMEC.
