Philip Clark

Strategic Communications Manager, Sport New Zealand

Philip has more than 20 years experience in media and communications, over a third of which has been spent working in sport. This includes multiple roles at Sport New Zealand – a government agency responsible for leadership of the sport and recreation sector – as well as ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Philip leads Sport New Zealand’s work on three of 24 commitments made as part of a 2018 government strategy for Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation. Each of these three commitments is focused on improving the value and visibility of female athletes and leaders.

His presentation with Isentia’s Ngaire Crawford will focus on a major study their two organisations are undertaking into gender balance in sports coverage and sports reporting, and how Sport NZ is using this as the basis for a major stakeholder engagement campaign to drive positive change among sports and sports media.
