Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this initiative for AMEC’s newest members, and present our company’s latest news. With over 13 years of experience as a media analyst in monitoring corporations, I have seen first-hand the industry’s shift from traditional to online media. This evolution has led to a significant increase in the volume of media data requiring processing, analysis, and combination of information from different offline and online sources. Now more than ever, clients need trustworthy media data and valuable insights, along with comprehensive visualization of numbers and metrics. Now, my current role, as Clip News’ Marketing Associate, involves crafting strategic communication and marketing initiatives, aiming to further business development, aligned with our company’s vision of providing high-quality media intelligence services. Q: Clip News joined AMEC recently as a Full Member. Why did you decide to join AMEC and what are you most looking forward to? Konstantina: Joining AMEC as a Full Member marks a strategic step for Clip News, driven by our commitment to offer competitive media analysis services to corporate clients and to contribute to the evolution of media measurement and evaluation in Greece. The decision originally came from recognizing the necessity of globally respected guidelines and frameworks within the communication field, ensuring that our services are consistent with international high standards. With more than 10 years of expertise in media analysis and reporting, Clip News focuses on extracting actionable insights from data, aiming to support PR and marketing professionals to make data-driven decisions. We anticipate to engage with AMEC’s network of members from all over the world, share insights about drivers and barriers in our line of work, learn from other members’ experience, and explore new media measurement and evaluation techniques.” Q: Clip News just announced the creation of your own AI tools for analyzing media data. Can you tell us more about this breakthrough? Konstantina: Our venture into AI tool development for media data analysis, based on Greek language models, constitutes a noteworthy leap forward. It began in 2022 with the collaboration of the Intelligent Systems Lab of the Informatics Department (IS Lab) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) for the project titled: “Intelligent analysis of Media Text Data”. Adapting to technological advancements is crucial within our ever-evolving sector, as innovative approaches are essential for managing challenging amounts of media data in an efficient and prompt manner. These tools are designed to refine the analysis process, supporting our analysts’ manual work, thereby improving our services. They allow for data tagging, clustering, sentiment analysis, and recognition of emotions, hate speech and irony, offering the AI community large-text language models in Greek. The integration of cutting-edge technological tools into our platform “Clip News Portal”, in combination with the profound knowledge and skills of our analysts, serves as the cornerstone for enhancing media analysis reports. Our objective is to expedite the manual data processing and emphasize even more in qualitative analysis. This approach will enable a much faster identification of insights, allowing our clients to evaluate emerging trends or potential publicity crises sooner, and to accordingly adjust their communication strategy. The collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is an ongoing process, while the research has already led to innovative applications and publications in the field of informatics and natural language processing. Q: As a new member of AMEC, Clip News focuses on monitoring, analysis, and prediction. How do you plan to use AMEC’s resources, like the Integrated Evaluation Framework, Measurement Maturity Mapper, or educational programs, to support your work and growth within the organization? Konstantina: Even before becoming members, as a media monitoring and media analysis organization, Clip News studied and advocated AMEC’s “Barcelona Principles” about effective communication measurement. Our effort has always been to follow the international standards and focus on providing deeper insights about the publicity of our clients and their competitors. As new members, we are eager to integrate AMEC’s resources into our operations and provide our analysts team the opportunity for education and professional development. The first group of media analysts has already started the “Foundation in Media Measurement and Evaluation Course”. We plan to continue the process with the analysts of all our departments (Monitoring, Reporting & Analysis, International), as we believe that it will be instrumental in upgrading our knowledge in monitoring and analysis. In addition, our Marketing Department team has dived into the “Integrated Evaluation Framework”, mapping our goals, activities, and KPIs, in a more sophisticated way. As the model can be adapted to each company’s unique communication needs, it offered a structured guide throughout the process of planning projects, setting objectives and measuring the results. AMEC’s resources and tools will certainly enhance our capabilities in monitoring and analysis, fostering our company’s further growth within the media intelligence community.
